Movie Reviews

It's been a while since I last posted because I have been so busy. More on that in my next post. I thought that I would share my thoughts on the last three movies that I had the pleasure of watching. I will begin with the most recent flick and work my way back.

I'll begin with a movie that I went to on Monday night, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." This movie was fantastic! It picks up where the first left off and is action packed throughout. Johnny Depp's character Captain Jack Sparrow steals the show again. He is one of my favorite actors, and shows a versatility few in Hollywood possess. The movie is long at about 2.5 hours but I never got bored. The story never bogged down and the ending prepares you for the next chapter that is due in May 2007. I would recommend this film to anyone. I also like it because you could bring kids to see it.

That is not the case of the second movie that I saw, "Grandma's Boy." This movie is raunchy, along the lines of "The 40 Year Old Virgin." I loved it. It is probably because I saw a little of myself in the main character, who is a video game tester that ends up living with his grandmother. I think it is one of those movies that you either get or you do not. I like these kind of irreverent comedies. If you liked Steve Carrell's movie then you will love this one.

The final movie that I saw was "Eight Below," starring Paul Walker. I loved this movie so much that I bought the DVD. The real stars of this movie are the eight sled dogs. They are better actors than some humans, especially those on soap operas. I want to get a Malamute for a pet because of this movie. This is also a good family movie. I recommend it to all.

Well, it looks like Hollywood may be coming out of its funk. I am looking forward to seeing several movies soon. I think "Talladega Nights" with Will Ferrell is going to be hilarious. I am a fan of NASCAR and Ferrell, so I think I will enjoy it. "Clerks II" will be out also and looks to be funny. If it is half as good as the original it will be great. "You, Me, and Dupree" also looks pretty cool. I still want to see "Superman Returns" also.

Until next time......
