Bowl Bound Again!!!!!!

Image
Eight starters lost to injury this season......Your 4th string quarterback(also your No. 1 receiver) throwing for a -3 yards passing for the whole game in a must win final versus Marshall. Sounds like a recipe for a 2-9 team or worse doesn't it? Well, not for the University of Memphis Tigers!!!! Yesterday, Dad and I were among the 46,000 or so fans at the Liberty Bowl that witnessed one of the greatest feats in the programs history. A third straight season in which the team will go to a bowl game, following a 26-3 victory over The Thundering Herd from Marshall. This 6-5 season was probably the most sweet of the three due to the incredible injuries that started to mount on the 3rd play of the season when 1st string quarterback Patrick Byrne broke his leg, and continued until Maurice Avery, the team's #1 wide receiver and senior, was pressed into service behind center and the offense was modified for him. Let me give you a little background about The University of Memphis' il...

Plenty to give thanks for!!!

Back again so soon, you ask? Well, it is Thanksgiving week which allows me to get some much needed rest from work and also to catch up on things like family and my blog. I had two Thanksgiving dinners this year, one here at my temporary home(Granny's) and also one at my Grandma and Pappaw's farm. I am tired of eating =). The festivities started out on Thursday with a traditional feast of Turkey and dressing and all of your other favorite foods for the holiday. Granny went out of her way to make a great dinner, as usual. We(Granny, Dad, Justin, and I) ate dinner and caught the occasion on video tape for future viewing. Afterwards I caught some football and pretty much chilled the rest of the day. Friday afternoon, it was off to the farm to see my other grandparents and also Mom. It was good to be back there, as I had not been up in quite a while. It was also the first time that I had seen my Pappaw since he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The meal was lacking the traditional...

Meatstravaganza 2005!!!!!

Image
Monday was Dad's 57th birthday, or what I dubbed "Meatstravaganza 2005." That was because we(myself and Justin) took him to Texas de Brazil at Peabody Place to eat. None of us had ever been before and all wanted to go so we decided what better time than then. Anticipation was high as all we had heard was good things about the restaurant. Well, we were not dissapointed! To start, there is a 40 item salad bar. This is not your traditional salad bar, but one that includes smoked salmon and sushi. The salad bar alone would be worth the trip, but is hardly what makes Texas de Brazil unique. What makes this place so different is that you have a card on your table that has a green side and a red side. When the card is on the red side, you are not offered any meat. When you turn the card to green, gentlemen like the one pictured saunter by the table with a variety of meats on skewers ranging from filet mignon to lamb. Every piece of meat that I sampled was extraordinary, as was t...

Endless Spiral......

Well, here I am again. Things just seem to be getting very mundane and boring in my life at the moment. I so want my own place to live and another job. I hardly get any rest here and have no privacy. I am thankful that I had somewhere to go but after almost 7 months here, I am close to losing my sanity. I hope that I can find another job that pays enough for me to get my own place. Justin found a place and is moving out on the first of December. He is hardly here anyway. Well, that is all for now...... Nucksy

Been a while........

Image
Well, it has been a little while since I have been here to pen, or type rather, my thoughts. There are lots of things going on at the moment. I had a roommate lined up for the first of the year, but he has decided to move to New Jersey. It looks like I will be either moving into a place by myself, or maybe moving in with Dad. For now, I am staying here. Once my bills get settled, I should be able to save a large nestegg. Nothing on the dating front.....lol.....as if there would be with all of the other turbulence going on. In time it will happen. Saw "Jarhead" this weekend....good movie. Not one that you want to see if you want to be uplifted. Very realistic war picture. I also saw "The Transporter 2". Movie was not that good, although I like Jason Statham. He would have made a perfect James Bond. Well, that is about it at the moment..... Later, Nucksy

Words to a song that sum up my feelings now.........

Below are the lyrics to a song by Alter Bridge called "Shed My Skin". It sort of summarizes my confusion and feelings at the moment(and past 2 years or so). They are a great band, by the way........... I am not alone I live with the memories, regret is my home This is my true freedom Express all the feelings of what I've become I watch the rising sun I hope I find some peace today It seems I've gone away It seems I've lost myself It seems I've really lost my way It seems I've lost myself It seems I've... Shed my skin Oh, are you ready for me? Or purge my love Oh, are you ready for me? A bitter sinking feeling Awake to the fact there's no going back To this world in which I was living I'm searching for something but found less than nothing I watch the rising sun I hope I find...

$400!!!!!!

Image
Well, it has been more than a couple of weeks since I have posted anything. Not much to say, really. My life is pretty boring. We did reach our goal for the bonus money at work, so I will be getting 400.00 extra to add to the moving fund. That will push me to 800.00! The Sharks finished the preseason 7-0! I am looking forward to catching the game in Nashville on the 22nd of this month. I think they might have a chance to win it all!!! Nucksy

Labor Day and Tiger Heartbreak

Image
Has it been two weeks since I have posted an entry in this? Man, I have been busy with work and not much else going on. Today was Labor Day, probably one of the most worthless holidays on the calendar. I did pretty much nothing but chill out and relax this weekend. I had my first perfect week at work, the week before last. I get a $25.00 when I pull that off. For August, I only made 5 errors out of 1700 orders that I pulled! I really like my job and it came along at just the right time in my life. We have an opportunity to get $400 if sales meet a certain plateau. Please pray that we make it, as I need the money to help with moving expenses. I think enough has been said about Hurricane Katrina and the horrors of that storm. I have a fond place in my heart for New Orleans and hope that the city will be back. On a lighter note, I had a chance to see "The 40 Year-Old Virgin" a couple of weeks ago. What a funny movie!!! I think it was as good as "The Wedding Crashers." ...

Is this far off?!!?!!

Walt Willey and Four Brothers.......

Image
It has been almost a week since I have written anything in this blog, so I thought that would post one this evening. I know that the title is catchy, and probably has you intrigued. I was picking up my brother, Justin( http://nviso209.blogspot.com ), from work last night and noticed a gentleman walking down Second Street in front of Peabody Place downtown. I said, "That's Walt Willey from All My Childen!" My brother asked me what the heck I was talking about. Well, once again I cemented my title of the king of useless knowledge. I remembered seeing him on television and also seeing a show on Soapnet which showed a tattoo he had on his forearm. I included this picture so you would know what I was talking about. I thought it was kind of cool. It was not as cool as the night that I nailed 7 celebs in the crowd at a Tyson fight, but still pretty cool. Today was pretty laid back. I got a haircut for the first time about 2 months. I have been too broke to get one. It is sad I k...

Probie no more!!!!!

Well, today was my last day of my probationary period at work. I will be a full fledged employee with benefits, as of tomorrow. Man, I have come a long way in the last 3 months. I hope to never again be in that position, if I can help it. There is not much else going on. Justin is working at Peabody Place at the Muvico Theaters. He is working there until he gets the money and can get his car on the road. He is such a wiz with the computer, I know that he will do great things. Check out his blog at http://nviso209.blogspot.com . He is also in the process of creating his own website. Well, that is all for now. Going to sleep as I have a busy day at Top RX tomorrow. That is where I work. God Bless Nucksy

Life comes full circle for me.....

Image
Today I attended the church that I grew up in, for the first time in about 15 years or so I guess. My grandmother asked us to go with her, so how could I refuse. It had not changed one bit since the way that I remembered it. It is the second week in a row that I have gone to church. That is definitely a good thing. Back to work tomorrow, I get a raise on Tuesday. I will finally have a little extra money when I get my next check on the 19th. It is so nice to have a steady stream of income again. I am planning on selling some more eBay stuff, so that will help out with the savings plan. Wayne Gretzky was just named the new coach of the Phoenix Coyotes, so that means I will have to go to see another game in Nashville since I have never met The Great One. The Predators just signed Paul Kariya, so that is another reason to check out some hockey. Well, I think that is all that I can think of at the moment. Until next time.....

Couple of days behind.....

Image
I let this slide for a couple of days. I am usually so tired when I get home from work that it is all I can do to stay up for a couple of hours and decompose. On Tuesday, I will have been working at my job for 3 months. I cannot believe how quickly it has passed. I will actually have health insurance again. This will be the first time in about two years that I will have it. I have a cyst on my scalp that I need to have removed(been there almost 2 years or so), and also I will be able to pay for my own medications. Things are finally starting to clear up in all aspects of my life. I am slowly catching up on my bills, and my bipolar disorder seems to be in check. I am finally ready to start dating again, although I am short on cash at the moment. I sent off for a couple of my University of Memphis transcript so that I can get the ball rolling on getting back into school and getting my degree. I am so glad that hockey will be back this year. I cannot wait to get to a couple of games in na...

Back to work......

Well, today it was back to work again. Jury duty made today feel like a Monday. A pretty uneventful day at the job. We did have someone quit and I was offered another position but declined it. I like what I am doing at the moment. It pays the bills, and does not leave much else! I have moved in with my grandmother and Dad and have just caught up on my bills after three months. My brother is also living here, so it is crowded here. Oh well, I am tired and going to sleep. All of the NHL free agent activity is frying my brains!!!!!

Jury Duty etc.

Today I completed my first ever jury duty assignment. It was a nice two day vacation from work with pay. Tomorrow, I go back to the salt mines. In the coming days, I will be adding some background information about myself. The picture is of our family dog, Sable. She was a Sheltie and died a few months ago. She was more than a pet, she was a member of the family. She had to be put to sleep but will always be with us. She is now buried in my grandmother's backyard and has a nice grave. Until next time......

More to come.......

This spot will be evolving soon into a canvas for my inner thoughts.........
