My New Mantra

Well, yesterday was a good day for me. I met my friend Mitch at Hooter's for lunch. Doesn't sound like much does it? Well, it is a big deal. He is like a brother to me, and in January I made a rude remark to his wife. Yeah, you guessed it, I was drunk. It was Jagermeister that night. 15 shots in about an hour!! Stupid! Anyway, we have not spoken much less seen each other since then.

I did not know what to expect when I got there and I was nervous to say the least. When I got there, it was as if time had never passed. Also, my other friend Mike was having to be a go-between during this time. I know that this will be a relief to him.

On an aside, Hooter's has a really good steak sandwich. That is what I had along with sweet tea. I explained about my job and everything that had happened the week before and that I would no longer be drinking. Well, we are friends again. I have to say that I am very happy especially with all that has been going on lately. I do not think that my friends realized just how much I was hurting. It probably would have helped if I had communicated my feelings, but I chose to drink.

As we were saying goodbye, we hugged and I came up with my new mantra. It is One Day at a Time. That is really the only way that you can live. I cannot change the past, and I certainly cannot live in the future. I can affect it, but not live it. I think this experience has taught me that. Well, I am working on my resume and taking care of a sick granny so I will be back with more soon. Getting this stuff out is helping!
