Best First Day of Work Ever!!!!!!

Well, today I began my new job at Mid-American Specialities. To say that the day was surreal would be an understatement. I woke up at 6:15(ugh, that hurt) and left for work at about 6:50, as I needed to be there at 7:45. I do not think that I had been conscious at that hour for a long time. I really did not have much trouble getting up and going. It was probably the adrenaline and excitement.

The commute was a joy, as usual. The interstate in Memphis is a hellish way to travel. If there is a wreck on the shoulder, it causes all sorts of havoc. By the time I got to the office, my Bacon Egg and Cheese bagel was cold but it never tasted so sweet.

We had a sales meeting first thing this morning that was to set the tone for the entire mood of the day. The owners two dogs, Abby and Hercules, parade around looking for attention. I work at a place where there are animals!!! Oh yes, and then there are dogs too! Well, today started a sales conttest with a Survivor theme. We are broken in to tribes and have different tasks to complete. Our tribe won two, so we are in the lead so far!

I had training all day. It was very cool. I feel like this is the job that I have been waiting my entire life to get. The benefits are incredible, and my confidence level is much higher after going over the training materials. We get an entire week off for Christmas, although it is unpaid. I am used to only having a day or so off. Also, we have a suite at the FedEx Forum for events. I think that I will be checking out some Grizzlies games for sure. Oh yes and if you make it 10 years the company gives you a Rolex! Also, the company will buy back sick days if you have more than five and also gives you a bonus for perfect attendance. I feel like I am going to be a success at this. It seems like everything started to click while I was in the training class, and all of my years of self-doubt was erased. Incredible!!! I am thankful to have found this job.

This place is crazy but that fits me to a tee!!! I ate lunch at Huey's and it was very good. Oh yeah, I get off at 3:30 every day!!!

I am tired but in a good way. Another day of work beckons. I am going to sleep!! More to come as the days go by.

Life comes full circle for me.....

Today I attended the church that I grew up in, for the first time in about 15 years or so I guess. My grandmother asked us to go with her, so how could I refuse. It had not changed one bit since the way that I remembered it. It is the second week in a row that I have gone to church. That is definitely a good thing. Back to work tomorrow, I get a raise on Tuesday. I will finally have a little extra money when I get my next check on the 19th. It is so nice to have a steady stream of income again. I am planning on selling some more eBay stuff, so that will help out with the savings plan. Wayne Gretzky was just named the new coach of the Phoenix Coyotes, so that means I will have to go to see another game in Nashville since I have never met The Great One. The Predators just signed Paul Kariya, so that is another reason to check out some hockey. Well, I think that is all that I can think of at the moment. Until next time.....
